A pair of Northern Gannets in the Westman Islands of Iceland. These small islands are famous for volcanic activity and indeed the major population area of the Westmans, Heimaey was saved from destruction from a 1973 eruption that had rivers of lava coming into town. Billions of gallons of sea water were pumped onto the lava, cooling it and saving the town. This image was made on a tiny outlying, uninhabited island.
