Description
Bull Elk Fighting, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
Sure as the end of August arrives, bull elk all over the west begin bugeling and fighting. All for the privilege of mating. The strongest bulls collect harems of eight, ten or even more cows and only they get to mate. These two young bulls probably had no chance to win the favors of cows, but fought anyway, perhaps as practice for when they were big enough to compete successfully.
