Aspen and Sage, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Surprisingly to many people, aspen does not cover much of Yellowstone. Rather, it is concentrated in isolated groves. It is heavily browsed by elk, so much of the bark is scarred by these large herbivores. This image was on the cover of American Psychologist October 2003.
