Gerenuk, Samburu National Park

With an exceptionally long neck, this animal looks like a hybrid between a giraffe and an antelope. Gerenuks seek out only the newest, most tender leaves and to get them, often stand upright and reach up to six feet into a tree, where this foliage is unavailable to other browsers. Gerenuks are found in small groups only, seldom more than five, in dry areas of Northeast Africa.
