Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, Papallacta Pass

After searching for this bird at the towers at the top of the pass, we started down and found this bird “frozen” in place only twenty feet from the road. We were perplexed because seedsnipe normally run from people. The answer: she had two youngsters also frozen nearby.
