Description
Red-headed Weaver, Samburu National Park
February is supposed to be a very dry month in Samburu, but in 2004 things were different. Extensive January rain turned the park green and stimulated nesting by many birds like the weaver. Weavers typically nest in colonies, with softball sized nests hanging from small branches. It takes a lot of work to construct such nests, which are built by males to attract the females.
