A male Eastern Bluebird in bright spring plumage in the Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge near South Newport, GA. Decades ago bluebirds were greatly diminished from historical levels due to European Starlings and House Sparrows occupying all available nest cavities. Extensive artificial next boxes have greatly increased bluebird numbers.
