Least Grebe, Brownsville, TX

This tiny grebe was nesting on a flooded area of the Reserve and feeding four young. Every few minutes one of the parents would dive, catch something and return to the young – who were often out of the nest – to feed one. The parents often caught prey seemingly too large for the babies to consume.
