Description
Altamira Oriole, Salineno, Texas
Thousands of northerners head south for the winter and become “Winter Texans” while the ice and snow dominate their hometowns in the north. One of the most sought after birds in the Lower Rio Grande Valley is this oriole that has a very limited range in south Texas and nowhere else in the U.S. It is larger than the familiar Baltimore Oriole and readily comes to half oranges set out by birders.
