Description

In 1969, the New Mexico Fish and Game Department released the first of 93 Oryx onto the White Sands Missile Range to provide additional big game hunting opportunities in the state. The Oryx multiplied far faster than expected and were not controlled by coyotes or mountains lions, again as expected. Recently the state has opened the season on Oryx in an attempt to eliminate them from lands other than the Missile Range. These three were photographed on that range.
