Eternal Flame Site, Arlington National Cemetary, Arlington, Virginia

The magnificent site chosen to inter President Kennedy lies on a hillside overlooking the city. The original eternal flame was designed and built by Army Colonel Clayton Lyle in just over a day in 1963. It was replaced at the new site in 1965, a site surrounded by magnolias that bloom in April.
