Eastern Bluebird, Seneca, MD

Bluebirds became very scarce during the middle part of the last century due mainly to aggressive Starlings and House Sparrows occupying all the available nesting cavities. An extensive program of artificial house placement and monitoring the houses brought this gorgeous bird back to its previous abundance. This male was bringing a beetle back to feed young.
