Description
Bald Eagle, Homer, Alaska
Jean Keene fed eagles each winter for many years behind her tiny trailer home on the Homer Spit. The Spit is a narrow piece of land that juts into Kachemak Bay. People come from all over to watch the daily action where up to 200 eagles snatch food from a short distance from viewing areas. Generous donors provide funds to Jean to maintain this activity. Unfortunately, Jean has passed on and the Homer authorities have now banned feeding of these magnificent birds.
