Description
Grizzly Bear Family, Katmai National Park, Alaska
After dinner on my first night in Halo Bay of this park, we took a small boat ashore and found this family feeding on sedges and grass. There were fourteen other bears in a large meadow. They looked just like cows feeding serenely and then resting. The mother hardly noticed us, but was on full alert when she saw a large boar a quarter mile away. Boars will sometimes kill cubs if they are left undefended.
