Blood Pheasant on Mountain Pass

This cock was found in a covey of six or seven birds on a mountain pass in central Bhutan. They are a rather common attitudinal migrant, living in rhododendron and fir forest near the snow line most of the year. If there is heavy snow at high elevations in the winter, it moves lower.
