Ruddy Shellduck on Bank of Punatsangchu River

This rather widespread species of waterfowl has a large breeding area. But not in Bhutan where occasionally a few birds summer. These shelducks were foraging and resting with a group of Bar-headed Geese and were undoubtedly just late migrants to the north.
