Description
Snoozing Arctic Hares, Churchill, Manitoba
As fall arrives in the far north, Arctic Hares molt from their summer coat of dull grey to the pure white of winter. When fall snows arrive late –as is increasingly common with global warming — the hares are particularly vulnerable to predators, standing out starkly with no camouflage. One of these hares has almost completed its molt, while the other is about half way through.
