The bizarre looking Cock-of-the-Rock can be found in temperate regions of both slopes. On the west the male is bright scarlet; on the east it is orange. These birds are usually found on leks, most often on steep slopes, where the males assemble before dawn to display and make their weird vocalizations. Females are attracted to these antics!
