The Navaho Nation owns and operates this picturesque area, although it appears like a national park. It was here that John Wayne's first hit, “Stagecoach,” was filmed. Many other westerns have followed because the landscape is so unusual. Even in spring this is a hot area, with very little shade, so be prepared!
