Description

For whatever reason, Plains Garter Snakes were very active at Lacreek National Wildlife Refuge near Martin, SD in late August. I saw ten in one day crossing the road. This one was sunning itself on the road early on a chilly morning and allowed me to make multiple photos. Others simply raced across the refuge roads so quickly that no photo was possible.
