Red foxes come in a number of color phases. The most common are the traditional rusty red and fawn colored found in the Middle Atlantic and New England. Farther north, however, two other coat colors appear: black or silver and what is called “cross.” This Cross Fox paused for a short moment in its morning foraging, long enough for just one image!
