Scarlet Tanager, South Padre Island, Texas

Birders flock to such places as High Island and South Padre Island, Texas in April hoping for a “fallout” of songbirds migrating from Central and South America. When the winds are from the north, migrating birds, like this tanager, rest in huge numbers awaiting more favorable wind to continue their journey to the north woods.
